Rossendale Wines has acquired the Cottesbrook label, which has been successfully merchandised throughout the UK for the last five years.
The vineyards that produce the wines for Cottesbrook have joined the New Zealand wine industry initiative to ensure the wines are indeed the "riches of a clean, green land".
This involves adoption of "best practice" reducing the carbon footprint and ensuring accountability and traceabiity for the long term benefit of the soil, the surrounding environment and ultimately the consumer.
The 2007 volume of Sauvignon Blanc was up 6% from 2006 against increased export market demand of 30%.
This has placed strong pressure on supply/demand and prices have increased both on the spot market in New Zealand and in all international markets.
The 2008 vintage is expected to be of very high quality due to the very hot summer currently being experienced. Volume will be higher due to new plantings coming into production although some frost damage did occur during the critical budding stage in Marlborough. The climatic conditions were optimal during flowering in December and the regions are experiencing highly favourable summer temperatures.
The 2008 Cottesbrook range is therefore expected to be of great quality.
