Ladies at Lunch 2010

Elizabeth Gordon

We were fortunate to have Elizabeth Gordon speaking about the development of the New Zealand accent and how we have be able to study this "living" language from the early 1800's up until today. Elizabeth entertained us with notions such as vowel shifts, the addition of Maori words to the language, and the development of the language of food.

Guests enjoyed a Euro breads & dips selection, followed by Beef & Whiskey Pie on champ potato mash & onion gravy. Desert was Cookies & Cream Baked Cheescake with Baileys icecream, and tea & filter coffee.

Another successful lunch, and although we missed Sue who was sick, Shirley, who was our compere for the day, did a stirling job!

These lunches are held once a month throughout the Winter/Spring period and are a fabulous day out with other fine women, enjoying exquisite food and wine. An opportunity to network and meet new friends!

Come and enjoy a wonderful lunch, with entertaining discussion and presentation. These events sell out so book soon!
