Olwen Munro
Tuesday 12th May
Olwen Munro entertained us with stories of her days as one of the first female pharmacists in Canterbury. She was an entertaining, humourous speaker, and it was enjoyed by all.
Guests enjoyed a warm Rossendale loaf with Dips and Spreads, followed by a choice of Honey Stung Chicken Salad or Lambs Fry and Bacon Pie, followed by Sticky Date Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, then Tea or Coffee.
Jimmy McIntyre, Executive Chef @ Otahuna Lodge
Tuesday 9th June
Jimmy McIntyre was an entertaining speaker, keeping us entralled with his descriptions of the Otahuna Lodge. We learned about the 110 year old extensive garden, historically maintained by up to eleven gardeners, which still today supplies a variety of mushrooms, 95 varieties of fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, herbs and nuts.
Otahuna Lodge, voted one of Australasian's finest lodges, is also known for its spectacular fields of daffodils. In September an open day is held and visitors can visit the grounds. All the funds raised are donated to the Cancer Society. The only other way to view this exclusive retreat is to indulge yourself by staying a night or two in one of the prestigious suites.
Our guests today enjoyed a Chicken Liver Parfait with some of the special pickles and chutneys produced at Otahuna. This was followed by Turkey wrapped in Bacon, served with Yams Roasted in Honey and Ginger, Curly Blanched Kale with Pistacho Nuts and Orange, and Desiree Potatoes. Most of this was grown at Otahuna. To finish ladies enjoyed Chocolate Tart with Blood Orange Sorbet and a cup of tea and coffee.

Detective Inspector Greg Williams
Tuesday 13th August
After working for 30 years in the police, Detective Inspector Greg Williams is well qualified to talk about both solved and unsolved murders and crime in New Zealand.
He arrested the ladies attention with suspense and intrigue, and shared a number of fascinating stories about drug use in New Zealand, cash van robberies and other organised crimes. He has headed several high profile homicide investigations. He was a riveting speaker who left us with much to think about.
Lunch lunch today started with a Rossendale Loaf & Trio of Dips, followed by either a Roast Vegetable & Ricotta Strudel, Lambs Fry & Bacon Pie with Grain Mustard Mash, Red Cabbage & Gravy, or our very popular Honey Stung Chicken Salad with Crispy Noodles. For dessert ladies enjoyed the frozen Chocolate Parfait served with Almond Brownie & Marinated Sultanas.
