Tuesday 13th May:

The premier of this year's Ladies @ Lunch gathering debuted with a fashion parade by Vincent of Merivale, compared by Jacquie, who tempted us with a number of stylish dresses, coats, trousers and wraps.

Stunning models showed us a range of fabulous non-iron, non-crushable wraps, slinky evening dresses and comfortable casual wear for all seasons. Diane was the very lucky winner of a beautiful and flexible wrap donated by Vincent, valued at $260.00.

Guests enjoyed a tasting session of Rossendale's latest Silver Medal award winning Riesling. The starter plate was a tasty brushetta, and as the models swirled their way down the catwalk, the ladies were served up a delicious main course of Smoked Chicken Rissotto, followed by Green-Apple Sorbet, served with a Vanilla Bean Pannacotta & cream.

Following the fashion parade the models mingled with the ladies, joining us for lunch and sharing stories. Congratulations Jacquie, for your first time modelling today - well done!

Special mention to Bev Dickey, ANZ Mobile Mortgage Manager, who sponsored a bottle of Rossendale Riesling and Rossendale Reserve Pinot Noir wine that was taken away by two of our lucky guests in a surprise spot prize.

Lets talk "Finance & Money" with Bev Dickey ANZ Mortgage Manager

Bev Dickey, ANZ Mobile Mortgage Manager, spoke to the Ladies at Lunch group today, over a delicious lunch served in the sunny alcove of Rossendale Restaurant. Detective Sergeant from the Christchurch Police "Crime - what is really happening in our city!
Detective Sergeant Neville Jenkins officer in charge of the Child Abuse Unit spoke to the "Ladies" at our July Ladies@Lunch.

He had some very sobering statistics about child abuse.

He offered his opinions about crime and some high profile cases he has personally been involved in during his 26 years in the New Zealand Police force.

The Ladies then enjoyed Honey Stung Chicken Salad followed by Cookies & Cream cheesecake.

Two lucky ladies took away two bottles of Gewurztraminer wine, grown here in our Halswell vineyard. Thanks to Bev Dickie, ANZ ANZ Mobile Mortgage Manager, for sponsoring these.

Helen Mahon-Stroud - Canterbury "Tactics" Coach

This Ladies @ Lunch event was fully booked - showing great support for the Canterbury Tactix, our homegrown netball team and their coach, Helen Mahon-Stroud.

The Canterbury Tactix, sponsored by Skope, have played their home games this season at the 7200-seat Westpac Trust Stadium which they share with the Canterbury Rams, a men's professional basketball team.

The team didn't make it to the top of the ladder in the ANZ Championships, suffering 8 losses, including two in Australia. This cannot be an easy job for a coach, who has to keep the team from taking the losses too hard and prevent them from feeling sorry for themselves.

The championship may have been lost this round, but it's not all gloom and doom, as three players from the Canterbury Tactix have been chosen to represent New Zealand in the 2008 Silver Ferns squad, challenging Australia and England in the New World International Netball Series.
